Materials:
2 1/2" x 4" oval base
4" square top ash handle
1/4" f.o. natural & dyed
1/4" flat (1 piece)
seagrass
11/64" f.o (lasher)
3/8" f.o. (rim)

Preparation:
Cut from 1/4" f.o.: 12 dyed stakes @ 7"
                        12 natural stakes @ 7"
Trace base onto paper, cut out, fold twice and use fold lines to mark 4 spots on edge of base.

Directions:
1.  Trace base onto paper, cut out, fold twice and use fold lines to mark 4 places on edge of base.
2.  Insert 1 dyed stake at each of the four marks and one more on @ side of those 4 stakes.  You will have sets of 3 dyed stakes together.  Now add 3 natural stakes in each of the 4 remaining sections.
3.  Weave the first 3 rows with natural 11/64" f.o.  The first 2 rows are woven while the base is still flat on the table.  Pick up the basket after the first 2 rows and gently start rolling the sides up as you weave the rest of the basket.
4.  You will alternate 3 rows of dyed and then 3 rows of natural 11/64" until you have a total of 24 rows (you should end with a set of 3 dyed rows).
5.  Weave 1 row with 1/4" flat.
6.  Cut and tuck
7.  Insert handle on center stakes on long side.
8. Rim with 3/8" f.o.  Place a piece of dyed 11/64" f.o. on top of outside rim, use seagrass as a filler and lash with natual 11/64" f.o.
